☣ ABOUT ME ☣

Hello, all! I am Biohazardia (Bio), a postdoctoral scientist studying bioengineering. ☣ ARTWORK TOS ☣

1. I retain rights to the artwork.
As the artist, I retain full rights to the image, with the ability to use the image in galleries, sell as prints/merchandise, and to display/use for my own purposes.
2. Commission use.
The buyer may post and use the commission for any purpose except: taking credit for creating the artwork, tracing the artwork and posting publicly without credit to myself, reproducing the art for profit, altering and subsequently distributing the altered artwork without permission, NFTs/digital tokens, data for AI generation.
Credit is appreciated but not necessary!
3. All products are digital.
The commissioned works are digital, and the buyer will receive high-quality digital .png files (signed and unsigned) upon completion. PSD files are available upon request (if you need the PSD image for any specific purpose, convey this when ordering). No physical copies are mailed to the buyer.
4. Commercial Rights.
These prices and terms do not reflect selling of commercial rights. If you would like to commission an image for commercial or restricted purposes, convey this upfront in your form and we can work something out.
5. Deadlines.
Because I am a student and have other responsibilities, I do not take commissions with a deadline. However, I will do my best to finish commissions within 1-4 months or sooner after starting.
6. Partial Refunds only.
You may ask for a refund at any time before image completion; full refunds will only be given before I begin work on the image. Once it has been started, I will give a partial refund based on how many hours of work has been done on the commission, based on my hourly rate. Refunds will not be issued once the commission is over 80% complete.
7. Given price quotes are subject to change.
Please keep in mind that the listed prices are an estimate. Examples of expected price changes:
> Subject does not have a visual reference, or only partial visual reference. Adds +10$ - +50$ due to work designing the character. I will not design complex characters in the context of non-design commissions.
> Character complexity. Adds +5$ - +30$ due to the extra time needed to render complex characters, clothes, jewelry, or markings.
> Changes after completion. Up to 3 minor changes after commission completion are free; further or medium-large changes will be $5-15 per change, or not possible depending upon the nature of the request.
(In general, unusual features or requests that increase time spent on the commission will increase price!)
8. Payment is upfront.
I require all commission payments to be upfront; please pay within 1 week of commission confirmation or your slot will be given away to another client.
9. I reserve the right to decline commissions for no given reason.
Additionally, commissions will generally be declined unless I have declared they are open on social medias, or they are listed as OPEN on this website.

☣ FAQ ☣

Frequently asked Questions

Quick Navigation:

This section is a work in progress! Check back later :D

Commission Info

Q: When do your commissions open?
A: Unfortunately due to school responsibilities and the desire to work on personal projects of my own, they open randomly. Your best bet for catching my commission openings is to follow my social media accounts (Deviantart or Instagram primarily) which is where I announce commission openings. You can also PM me to be added to my pinglists, which means you'll get a notification on those sites when I open for commissions!
If you really must have a commission, you can check if my waitlist is open - however, please understand I cannot guarantee a timeframe of when I am able to take on commissioners waiting in my waitlist. In the future I am considering opening definite waitlist access for Patreon members, or using Google Forms when I open commissions to review many requests at once. But, as of right now, I don't feel I am ready for that yet.Q: Do you take art trades or requests?
Generally no. I will never take requests, and requests usually make me start to avoid the requester (it's uncomfortable).
I will almost never art trade with anyone who isn't a mutual (ie we are both watching each other); however, even if we are mutuals I still have a decent chance of saying no due to limited time.

ARTWORK and tools

Q: What art programs/apps do you use to draw?
A: I freely alternate between Clip Studio Paint on Windows PC and Procreate on iOS. Rarely I will use Rebelle 3 for watercolor style images. I will sometimes use Photoshop for image cleanup.
Q: What tablet(s) do you use to draw?
A: I freely alternate between my Wacom Cintiq (22 inch) and my Ipad Pro (2017) with Apple Pencil.
Q: What art programs and tools do you recommend to beginners?
A: For a starter tablet, I would recommend the Ipad with Apple Pencil, especially if you are still in school. They are somewhat expensive (~300$) but drawing on a screen is far more intuitive than starting with a pen tablet. Ipads can also be utilized for many other purposes as well, so they are well worth the money.
For art programs, I would highly recommend Procreate for iPad. It's very cheap (less than 10$) and quite powerful, with many unique brushes and animation tools. A good free program for desktop iOS and Windows is Medibang Paint Pro. If you are looking for a paid upgrade to Medibang Paint Pro, I would try Clip Studio Paint, as it is frequently on sale for ~25$. Paint Tool SAI is also a very good app that I used for a long time, but it doesn't get updates often.Q: What programs do you use to do speedpaints/animation/videos
A: I use Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects! I'm also looking into learning Adobe Animate. I use Procreate for any frame-by-frame animation!

Personal

Q: What are your pronouns?
A: I typically use she/her, but I don't mind they/them either.
Q: Have you taken art classes?
A: I took one character design class in college to fulfill an elective. It was very fun and the professor was kind, but I did not learn much there (probably because the professor was very kind and didn't really critique my artwork). I suppose it did help me learn a bit about character design for humans and humanoid characters, since before then I drew creatures almost exclusively.
Otherwise, I have not taken any professional art courses. I typically learn from artists who share their knowledge on Youtube, or studying speedpaints of artists whose technique I enjoy. Aaron Blaise's digital art courses have also proven quite useful.

ADVICE

Q: Do you have any art tutorials or general tips?
A: Actually yes I do! You can check out all of my tutorials on Youtube here! I mostly have Wings of Fire tutorials based around the dragon tribes from that series, but I'm also working on other general tutorials as well (eyes, fullbody dragons, shading, backgrounds etc). If you subscribe to my Youtube you'll be notified when I upload new tutorials or speedpaints!
Keep in mind that I do not consider myself an expert though! There are many more resources I'd suggest checking out, on Youtube or art courses.Q: Will you look at my account and critique my art?
A: I'm sorry but I'm very limited on time and can't look at and critique everyone who requests it. I will usually have to leave these messages on read because it's just awkward to get these requests. Again I'd suggest subscribing to my Youtube though because I hope to upload critique and tip videos in the future!

Please credit me the first time you draw the design or when making references for it. Afterwards, credit is appreciated but not necessary!

For design commissions, I will send multiple roughly sketched/color design concepts until you are satisfied with the design concept, whereupon I will begin the clean fullbody version of the design using your approved version.

YOU MAY:

  • Make changes to the design (with credit to me as the original designer). This includes change of species.

  • Add clothes, scars, accessories, etc.

  • Use the design for your original character or as your mascot

  • Make merchandise, prints, etc. of your own artwork that features the design

  • Use the design for book, game, or other media, as long as I am credited somewhere in that media.

YOU MAY NOT:

  • Claim that you created the design or claim creation of the original artwork.

  • Resell the design for a higher value than what you bought it for + any artwork that the design has accumulated.

  • Reproduce and sell the original artwork made by myself for profit.
